Woah Sweaty Betty, Bam a Lam!

With temperatures hotter than Satan's butt-cheeks, we have never been so grateful to have air-con! Last week was another corker. Stupidity and silliness prevailed on Wednesday at our monthly quiz and (as always) it was great fun. Thursday was the return of our Jam Night and we were treated to some banging tunes! Friday we had kick-ass 70s rock classics from 8 Foot Under, Saturday a Crow debut for Covers From Another Mother and we polished off the week with another chilled Sunday Vibes Session.

The sweltering heat and people being busy with a backlog of 2 years worth of bumped arena gigs, festivals, holidays and get togethers, is impacting trade. It is completely understandable and unfortunately unavoidable, that as the world get's caught back up and we approach the Summer holidays, things are going to get a bit bumpy! Wednesday and Saturday we were awesomely busy, but our precarious post-covid situation needs to rapidly improve to ensure our survival. We originally had thought that by this September we may be starting to get into bother if we weren't able to launch our initial plans for the business (all the plans that had to take a back seat due to the pandemic and difficult subsequent trading period), but it would seem that our #SaveFromExtinction campaign might be needed sooner rather than later. In the interest of not sparking another panic and setting off the infamous Leighton Buzzardshire rumour mill, we do have every faith we will indeed survive... We have yet to hear the violins and there's bugger all chance of us hitting an iceberg in this heat! But we need to catch up and get those projects launched and working fast, as being so financially reliant on weekend trade over the next couple of months could prove fatal.

The good news is that we do have a plan! We will be sending out another newsletter this week with all the details of our #SaveFromExtinction campaign, what events we have lined up and how you can help our awesome little independent events bar finally thrive!

But for now, a public service announcement on how to keep cool this week:

We know we keep banging on about it, but it is bloody hot at the moment! So this week we have decided that we will fire up the air con and open from 9am as a sanctuary for anyone looking to work from home.

It will be a cool, quiet, childfree space to work from, with plenty of plug sockets, wifi, soft drinks and locally roasted coffee. (Beer is also available if you are having a tough day)!

We will keep the music off and the pool table away until late afternoon, so plenty of time for you to crack on with some work!

It's free entry and no pre booking is required, just rock up!

This Wednesday evening we are open as a bar, which means great tunes, great beers, air con, pool table, board games and a fantastic atmosphere. Over 16s only. Dogs welcome. Free Entry

As it is the 3rd Wednesday of the month, the ECO SOCIAL will be back at The Crooked Crow Bar.

This is an informal meet up for anyone who cares about our environment to meet and chat with like minded people.
