Paul-Ronney Angel & The Bad Mofo's. Wednesday 1st December, 8pm
Paul-Ronney Angel is the darkly charismatic singer and songwriter of London's The Urban Voodoo Machine. Since 2003 him and his 'Bourbon Soaked Gypsy Blues Bop'N'Stroll' orchestra have played thousands of shows around the world and released several critically acclaimed albums. When the pandemic hit in March 2020, he was not able to tour or record with his 9-piece band, so he started doing weekly livestreams from his living room, as well as working on what would be his first solo album. London Texas Lockdown, as the title would suggest was recorded in London and Texas during lockdown. The album features some of Mr Angel's heavyweight musician friends, from Linda Gail Lewis (Jerry Lee's sister) to punk rock legend Rat Scabies and the widow and son of Mr James Brown, Tomirae and James Brown 2 (to mention a few!)
As the album was an 'all-star affair' the live show surely had to be too. Joining Mr Angel (Vocals/Guitar) for the show at the Crooked Crow in Leighton Buzzard on Wednesday 1 December are: Tomirae Brown - Vocals (James Brown Band) Norman Watt-Roy - Bass (Ian Dury & The Blockheads) Slim - Accordion (The Urban Voodoo Machine) Rocky Rhythm - Drums (The Revillos)

'This album came about as a necessity to do something in that strange time, I have to do music otherwise I just get myself into trouble! I wasn't really planning on touring the album....but hey, the offers of shows started to come in, and I thought - I can do this as well as The Urban Voodoo Machine!'
AKA THE BAD MOFO'S...
So, what does the music sound like then Mr Angel? Oh, well it's a gumbo of all the good stuff I like from Rock'n'Roll, Gospel, Country, Jazz, Punk, Gypsy, Blues - it's a lot of fun with a bad attitude and I'm a lucky Mofo to get all these great players hanging out with me!!! “Paul-Ronney Angel’s songs are fucking great!” – Shane MacGowan “A true street poet and a bad-ass guitar slinger!” – Vive Le Rock
London Texas Lockdown is OUT NOW on all platforms, as well as direct from the man himself:
Paul-Ronney Angel ..... the gig that dragged in people from around the county and even out from London. Most of us didn't know what to expect except that we had some fantastic musicians on stage ..... everyone left buzzing though after an awesome evening ..... when they return, make sure you don't miss them!
