Buckle Up! We Have a Belter of a Week Ahead!

With an absolute whopper of a week lined up for you lucky people, we are now hurtling into the summer with more ferocity than a middle aged woman at an Ikea sale!

A huge THANKYOU to all of you who came and supported us last week.

If you were lucky enough to get to see Robert J Hunter last Thursday at our Café Vibes Session, we are sure you'll understand why we are so excited to announce that he will be back with his full band on Friday the 2nd September. The Robert J Hunter band's original blend of genre-bending blues, rock n’ roll and Americana is absolutely mind blowing! So make a note in your diary!! Tickets are just £5 and are up on our website now.

Talking of tickets, last nights Castle Comedy Night was a corker, with hilarious stand up from comedians Ian Stone, Scott Bennett & Paul Revill. The night had completely sold out, so make sure you grab your tickets for next months Castle Comedy Night ft Patrick Monahan & Josh Pugh, when they go up on our website later today.

We had another fantastic weekend with our Hip Hop Lounge Friday, live music from The Zeroes on Saturday and on Sunday, DJs Double Decker's provided a fantastic soundtrack of Mod, Northern Soul & Ska classic vinyl. The Pie Nest was back in house Saturday and Sunday 12-4pm and will be again this weekend, so don't forget to keep your eyes on the pies!

And we thought we would leave you this week with a wonderful post from our friends at The Music Venues Trust:

SUMMER OF LIVE

It was a helluva weekend... but did you know that an 'Alternative Glastonbury of Music', reaching even more people, is happening every week in towns and cities across the UK?

Congratulations to our colleagues at Glastonbury Festivals for an incredible festival that has set the scene for a Summer of Live music for audiences across the country. This year's Glastonbury made music available to circa 200,000 people creating some unforgettable moments in a weekend that also included massive stadium/arena shows like Hella Mega Tour with Green Day, Fall Out Boy and Weezer. Stand alone shows such as RammsteinShop, Ed Sheeran. BST Hyde Park with Elton John, The War On Drugs, Phoebe Bridgers, THE ROLLING STONES, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rina Sawayama, BERWYN, Juanita Euka. The Eagles (band), Robert Plant, Alison Krauss, Little Big Town. And other events such as the 10th anniversary of Outbreak Fest in Manchester with artists such as Knocked Loose, TURNSTILE, Touche Amore, MANNEQUIN PUSSY, SLOW CRUSH, CEREMONY.

The Music Venues Alliance is a network of 928 venues. These venues have an average capacity of 316, resulting in a total capacity of 293,248. Music Venues Alliance venues provide an average of 4.2 nights of music every week, a total of 3898 shows per week. The average number of acts at each show is 3.1, resulting in 12,083 performances every week. With an estimated number of musicians per act at an estimated 3.8, that's over 45,000 individual musician performances per week.

When these venues are all open on the same day, which is nearly every Friday and Saturday, the majority of Thursdays and most Wednesdays and Sundays, they create a total audience of close to 300,000 - 1.5 times the total audience size of Glastonbury weekend on just one night. Across an average 4 day weekend period, Thursday to Sunday, over 1 million people have a chance to see live music in these venues. That's five times the size of Glastonbury. And no, Paul McCartney won't be bringing out Bruce or Dave, but someone somewhere will get to see, and probably meet and talk to, the next big British act. A future Glastonbury headliner is playing a venue near you this weekend.

This is live music you can walk to, happening every week of every month in every year in your neighbourhood. You don't need a big screen to see it, you can see and feel the music up close and personal.

It's the Summer of Live and it's happening right next to you. Be part of it.
